CBS Leads Network Winners at News Emmys

CBS News picked up five awards to finish as the leading network winner at the 29th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards ceremony Monday night in New York City. Three of the CBS Emmys went to work done by “60 Minutes” entries and two to “CBS News Sunday Morning.”
ABC News earned four Emmys, two for “20/20” and two for “World News With Charles Gibson.”
National Geographic earned three Emmys.
Earning two each were the Detroit Free Press Web site, freep.com; the History cable channel; and NBC News, both for work done for “NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams.”
Taking home one Emmy each were CFR.org (the Council on Foreign Relations’ Web site), Discovery Channel, Cinemax, HDNet’s “Dan Rather Reports,” MercuryNews.com (the San Jose Mercury News’ Web site) and Smithsonian Channel.
Programming produced by and seen on public broadcasting stations earned a collective 10 Emmys Monday.
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer; the late NBC News Washington Bureau Chief and host of “Meet the Press” Tim Russert; and public broadcasting documentarian Ken Burns.
Also paid tribute were the late sportscaster Jim McKay and commentators William F. Buckley and Tony Snow

  1. On charging more for tv week and Sunday extra is not good idea. My wife and I aren’t working and the paper is a luxury item. Can’t afford the extra money. If we do pay the extra money, there will be less money or no tip for delivery person, sorry.
