‘Daily Show’ Enjoys Convention Boost

Armed with “the Best F#&king News Team Ever” in Denver and St. Paul, Minn., “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart’s” coverage of the Democratic and Republican conventions propelled itself well above the show’s 2004 convention coverage in ratings and viewership.
Airing live and nightly from the sites of both conventions, “Daily” took in a 37% increase in average viewership over 2004, averaging 1.7 million viewers over the two weeks of the convention.
In key male demos, including 18- to 34-year-olds and 18- to 24-year-olds, “Daily” bounced 70% and 46% in ratings, respectively, from 2004.
Convention-specific coverage of the DNC brought in an average of 1.5 million viewers, up 23% versus 2004, while the RNC averaged 1.8 million viewers, an increase of 32%.
