Dish’s Election Channel to Display Six Feeds

Dish Network will combine feeds from six of the largest cable news networks on one of its channels starting today through next Friday in an effort to give subscribers more access to news during the days before and after next Tuesday’s presidential election. Larger satellite competitor DirecTV announced a similar feature last week.
Dish’s Channel 100 will be a so-called “interactive mosaic,” where watchers can pick a particular display of a 24-hour news channel from a split screen. The mosaic, which will be in effect through Nov. 7, will have displays from CNN, CNN Headline News, CSPAN, CSPAN2, Fox News Channel and MSNBC, the company said in a statement today.
Dish is the latest multichannel service operator to offer subscribers programming or special displays geared toward the presidential election. Last week, DirecTV said its “Election Mix” feature on Election Day, available in both standard and high definition, will have simultaneous feeds of ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and alternating feeds of Comedy Central and BBC America.
