The National Association of Television Program Executives extended President and CEO Rick Feldman’s contract by three years. The new contract will keep Mr. Feldman at NATPE until the spring of 2012.
“We’ve evolved from a domestic syndication show to a global distribution show,” Mr. Feldman said in a conference call with reporters to discuss the NATPE show in January. “We’re really the only content market in the U.S.”
Mr. Feldman said NATPE plans to double the size of the floor at the upcoming conference at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to include a restaurant and a business-to-business lounge. The changes are intended to make the space more conducive to mixing and dealmaking, Mr. Feldman said.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer will keynote the event this year, Mr. Feldman said. NATPE kicks off Jan. 26 and runs through Jan. 29.
Mr. Feldman said NATPE is in talks with CBS Television Distribution and Sony Pictures Television to see whether those companies will return to the show floor in 2009. He deferred questions on which companies will be on the floor until after MIPCOM.
