Maria Grasso has officially joined OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, as was expected when it was reported last month that she was leaving Lifetime.
Ms. Grasso was named senior VP for programming. She will work with Nina Wass, senior VP, creative affairs, in developing scripted, alternative, short-form and long-form programming, the network said. The two executives also will manage the creative department production and scheduling.
At Lifetime, Ms. Grasso was senior VP for series development and current programming.
OWN, a joint venture of Discovery Communications and Oprah Winfrey, is expected to debut next year in 70 million homes on what is now Discovery Health Channel.
“Maria brings to the table an exceptional track record and desire to contribute to the world through television in a whole new way,” said Robin Schwartz, president of OWN, to whom she will report. “Together Maria and Nina will be a dynamic creative team. We are on our way.”
