The Sundance Channel has greenlit a second season of “Green Porno,” actress Isabella Rossellini’s series of nature shorts.
Whereas the first season dealt with the mating habits of insects, the eight-episode sophomore season, which will premiere in April 2009 on SundanceChannel.com, will focus on the sex lives of marine animals.
Among the animals getting the “Green Porno” treatment this time out include the shrimp, squid, barnacle, limpet, elephant seal, starfish and Right whale. Ms. Rossellini will once again study the reproductive activities of the creatures and act them out. Additionally, the new season will be seen from an environmental aspect as Ms. Rossellini highlights the devastation of world supplies due to human consumption.
“Because of what I learned in doing research for this series I felt strongly that there needed to be an added environmental element to really inform people how delicate the futures of these creatures are,” Ms. Rossellini said in a statement.
