TLC has named Howard Lee vice president of production and development, East Coast, while Denise Contis steps into the same position on the West Coast.
Mr. Lee comes to TLC from Planet Green, where he served as vice president of development and production, East Coast. He has also worked for Travel Channel and was senior supervising producer for PBS’ WGBH/WQED co-production of “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?”
Ms. Contis was previously co-producer and executive producer on series and pilots for ABC Studios, CBS, Lifetime and E!. She has also served as senior vice president of development and programming for A. Smith and Company and as president and executive producer for her own independent production company, TUK Media.
“I am so thrilled to have both Howard and Denise joining the TLC team,” Nancy Daniels, senior VP of production and development for TLC, said in a statement. “Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with each of them, and I am confident that they are perfect to help oversee TLC’s slate of original productions. TLC is lucky to have them both on board.”

  1. A change is welcome from this buyer/seller. TLC has no brand anymore and looks like groups of different themes thrown together. Am Chopper, babies, tatoo shops, small people and design shows??? Discovery already has a Green Planet so lets pray Ms. Contis’s backgroud will prevail and bring some sanity to a former great product

  2. I agree with your thoughts here and I really love your blog! I’ve bookmarked it so that I can come back & read more in the future.

  3. Great post. Hope you write more on the subject soon.
