CBS Television Distribution’s “The Doctors” made further ratings strides towards becoming the No. 1 new show in syndication during the week of Nov. 17, tying NBC Universal Television Distribution’s “Deal or No Deal” in household ratings.
“Doctors” drew a 1.9 for the week, increasing ratings 12% to a new series high, its third straight record-setting week. “Deal,” with its 1.9, stayed flat compared with last week.
The rest of the rookie first-run Monday-Friday shows also held flat, with Sony Pictures Television’s “Judge Karen” (1.1) leading the way, followed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution “The Bonnie Hunt Show” (0.9), Debmar-Mercury’s “Trivial Pursuit: America Plays” (0.6) and Program Partners’ “Family Court With Judge Penny” (0.6).
In weekend first-run fare, Disney-ABC’s “Legend of the Seeker” (2.1) gained 5% from last week.
The top talkers made gains from last week, as CBS Television Distribution’s “The Oprah Winfrey Show” (5.8) and “Dr. Phil” (3.6) gained 4% and 3%, respectively. “Phil” hit its season high this week. Warner Bros.’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” rose 4% to a 2.4, its season high.
A majority of the genre was flat, with only NBC Universal’s “Maury” (1.8) and “The Steve Wilkos Show” (1.0) dipping 5% and 9%.
The court shows took a beating with only one show holding steady: Warner Bros. “Judge Mathis” (1.9). Leader of the pack, CBS Television Distribution’s “Judge Judy,” fell 4% to a 4.5, followed by a similar drop by “Judge Joe Brown” (2.3).
Warner Bros.’s “The People’s Court” (2.1) dropped 5%, while Twentieth Television’s “Judge Alex” stumbled by 6% to a 1.6. Twentieth’s “Divorce Court” slipped 14% to a 1.4, with “Cristina’s Court” following suit by dipping 8% to a 1.1. Sony’s “Judge David Young” (0.8) continued the trend, falling 11%.
News magazine shows stepped up slightly from last week, with CBS Television Distribution’s “Entertainment Tonight” (4.5, up 2%), “Inside Edition” (3.1, up 3%) and “The Insider” (2.0, up 5%) gained ground, with “Insider” hitting its season high. Warner Bros.’ “TMZ” (2.1, up 5%) and “Extra” (1.8, up 6%) also rose, while NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution’s “Access Hollywood” (2.0) stayed the same.
There was little movement in the game shows, as CBS Television Distribution’s “Wheel of Fortune” (7.7) and “Jeopardy” (6.1) ticked down slightly by 1% and 2%. Disney-ABC’s “Millionaire” stepped up by 4% to a 2.6, and Debmar-Mercury’s “Family Feud” (1.5) was flat.
