The world’s largest social networking site is betting about half of its users will be accessing MySpace on mobile phones in the next few years.
That was the prediction issued today by MySpace, which also announced it had launched a new version of its mobile Web site for its 20 million-plus worldwide users who access the mobile site each month.
The popularity of smartphones that enable Web access is a big growth driver, MySpace said.
MySpace is available on iPhones, Google Androids, BlackBerrys, the Sidekick and now on phones from Palm and Nokia, the company said.
In the last six months, mobile usage in the United States has increased 50%, while European mobile usage is up 80% and Asian mobile usage grew 60%.
