“Trading Spaces” host Paige Davis has signed on to host “Life for Dummies,” a series in the works from “Hell’s Kitchen” producer Arthur Smith.
Mr. Smith’s A. Smith & Co. Productions, which acquired the rights to Wiley Publishing’s “For Dummies” series in 2006, is putting the project together as a potential syndicated series. The plan is to use a mix of interviews, studio segments and field pieces to cover a wide range of topics.
Mr. Smith and Kent Weed will executive produce, with Ms. Davis on board as a producer.
“The ‘For Dummies’ brand has penetrated our culture and we are looking forward to furthering its presence by offering a programming experience that feels as the books do—very accessible as well as interesting and informative,” Mr. Smith said. “We also have the luxury of working again with Paige, and we know her hands-on approach and enthusiasm will ensure that all viewers walk away feeling just a bit smarter.”
A. Smith & Co. took over production of “Trading Spaces” in late 2007, just as TLC announced it had rehired Ms. Davis to host the series.
In addition to “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Trading Spaces,” A. Smith & Co. produces “Kitchen Nightmares” and “I Survived a Japanese Gameshow.”
“Dummies for Life” is being packaged by William Morris, which represents Ms. Davis, A. Smith & Co. and the “For Dummies” books.

  1. TYPO in the last line!!

  2. I’ve never thought much of the “for dummies” series. And now a TV show? I can’t see that as succeeding. That Home Made Simple is already a “for dummies” series (and a lot of other shows too).
