Reality producer Stone & Company Entertainment is expanding eastward, hiring Sarah-Jane Cohen to head up a New York office.

Ms. Cohen is executive producer of Stone & Company’s Bravo series “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style.” She is a former executive vice president of BBC Productions, where she produced TLC’s “What to Wear” and “While You Were Out.”
Under Ms. Cohen, the company’s New York office has already landed a pilot order for Comcast’s Style network.
While the economic crisis has put most companies in downsizing mode, Stone & Company principal Scott Stone said he believes the time is right to expand.
“Given the constancy and depth of the company’s development and production on the East Coast, it is time to establish an official outpost in New York,” Mr. Stone said. “When I started this new company four years ago, I did it with an eye on the global marketplace. I am looking to build on our strong foundation, especially in New York and Europe, and Sarah-Jane is the perfect person to help make that happen.”
Mr. Stone told TelevisionWeek that the company’s volume of business in New York had him flying east at least twice a month. “I needed someone on the ground,” he said.
Ms. Cohen will work with Joan Harrison, senior vice president of programming for Stone & Company. Ms. Harrison continues to oversee all development for the company.
Stone & Company, whose past series include “The Mole” and “Joe Schmo,” also produces “First Class All the Way” for Bravo and “Gimme Sugar” for Logo. The company has series in the works at Bravo, Logo and Nickelodeon, as well as pilots for Style and GSN.
