‘Oprah’ Cancels Columbine Episode

Apr 20, 2009  •  Post A Comment

“The Oprah Winfrey Show” pulled an episode discussing the 10th anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings that was scheduled to air today.
“To our viewers: I decided to pull the Columbine show today. After reviewing it, I thought it focused too much on the killers. Today, hold a thought for the Columbine community. This is a hard day for them,” a posting on “Oprah’s” Facebook page and Oprah.com read.
In its place, an episode about a ride-along on a pornography bust, as well as a mother’s return from jail, aired.
The “Columbine” episode was filmed April 15. Harpo Productions has not confirmed whether the pulled episode will ever air.
Numerous news organizations and state assemblies are reflecting on the shootings today, with flags flying at half-staff at the Colorado Capitol building and a Sunday night vigil taking place across from the high school, MSNBC.com reports.
