Employment Up, Shoots Down After Strike

Entertainment employment rose while film and television shoots fell during the weeks following the end of the Writer Guild of America strike Feb. 12, Daily Variety reports. Returning TV and film workers helped boost California employment in the information sector by 9,000, the newspaper says, citing the state’s employment development department. Film shoots for sitcoms, dramas and TV pilots all fell from a year earlier, Variety reports, citing permitting agency FilmLA.
