Tony Burman has been named managing director of Al Jazeera English, Online Media Daily reports. Burman plans to extend the reach of the English-language version of the Arabic news network into North America, the Web site says. Berman previously was editor in chief and executive director of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., the Web site notes.
