Time Warner Cable plans to almost double its New York-area high-definition channels to 100 by the end of the year in an attempt to stave off competition from Verizon’s FiOS fiber-optic service, Multichannel News reports, citing TWC Chief Operating Officer Landel Hobbs, who spoke at a telecommunications conference. TWC will also let customers lock in a monthly price for phone, video and Internet service if they sign two-year contracts, Multichannel News says.
