An associate professor at East Carolina University plans to name a species of spider after Comedy Central’s late-night bloviator, the Associated Press reports. Colbert demanded his own spider after hearing associate professor Jason Bond had named a species after Neil Young. One of 27 types of unnamed trapdoor spiders—which lurk underground waiting until they sense something going by and grab it—will be dubbed Aptostichus stephencolberti, and the “t” will be silent.
