Cable company Cox Communications reached a distribution agreement with NBC Universal for the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2012 Summer Games, Multichannel News says. Cox, which didn’t disclose details related to the Games in Vancouver and London, respectively, also said it has a video-on-demand deal involving the Beijing Olympics, which start Aug. 8, the paper reports.

Luckily some can watch. Toledo, Ohio cannot. Our local NBC affiliate (WNWO-TV/DT) and ‘BUCKEYE CABLE’ are at an impass on broadcast fees and rights. Only way to actually see the olympics is to watch analog TV on WNWO. WNWO is not going to be on cable and has current azmuth aiming issues. Therefore, most of the market will not get a quality picture. FOr HD olympics, WDIV “local4” is the only setup that will work.
I’m so glad that someone doesn’t play games when getting info and US coverage out to the public.

*note that I probably will never be a part of “MOB MEDIA’s” custom. That’s another “inside name” for Buckeye Cable. Most of my broadcast peeps use that term.
