DTV Switch to Increase Cable Subscriptions

Analysts predict that cable companies could benefit from next February’s switch to digital TV as consumers look for economical ways to deal with the changing technology, the Hollywood Reporter says. While the extent of subscriber increases is not known, some estimates say that cable operators could add as many as 1 milion to 2 million of the 14 million homes that still only use free broadcast transmissions, the Reporter says.
