Now that basic cable networks are earning major Emmy Awards, one of those channels may try to win the rights to televise the awards show, Daily Variety reports. The current Emmy contract with the four major broadcast networks expires in 2010, and if the program continues to serve as a promo for what’s on cable, the broadcasters might consider letting it go, Variety says.
