National Geographic Channel’s “Dogtown” returns for its new season on Friday night with a special episode, “Saving the Michael Vick Dogs,” taken from recent headlines, the Los Angeles Times says. The debut episode follows four of the 47 dogs rescued from former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick’s illegal dog fighting compound as they are rehabilitated back to a state where they can get along with others for the sake of being adopted. “Even those folks who have never adopted a dog, loved a dog, pet a dog or met a dog will sit riveted as the four toughest cases of the Vick survivors are brought back from what can be described only as the brink of torture-inflicted canine insanity,” the paper says.
