HBO has signed the creative team behind the critically acclaimed mini-series “John Adams” for a new project based on James Ellroy’s books “The Cold Six Thousand” and “American Tabloid: A Novel,” Daily Variety reports. While HBO has had to option to adapt the books for some time, it is yet undecided whether the project will be a full series or a mini-series. Playtone’s Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman have tapped Kirk Ellis, who served as executive-producer on “Adams,” to write, the trade says.
