Media Companies Split for Broadband

Major media companies including Liberty Media, Time Warner and IAC Interactive Corp. have established a trend through their recent decisions to split some of their divisions into their own publicly traded companies in hopes of faster growth, BusinessWeek reports. For these companies the search for growth has led them to buy Web businesses to expand in the broadband market, the magazine says.
