In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., warns about a possible “cliff effect” when the nation switches over from analog to digital broadcasting in February, Broadcasting & Cable reports. The senators points out that 21% of her state relies on TV over the airwaves and urges the FCC and the industry to educate consumers about the issue. Constituents in danger of falling off a “digital cliff” are those who are unable to afford an antenna upgrade or cable subscription, B&C reports the senator as saying.
