Bravo has acquired the off-network syndication rights for CBS’ summer series “Swingtown,” TelevisionWeek reports. The series, which is yet to be renewed or canceled by CBS, aired 13 episodes during its first season. Bravo will re-air them beginning in January. Strong ratings for the series on cable may inspire production of future episodes, whether at Bravo, CBS or another network, TVWeek says.

I think this is excellent news, and I find it interesting that Bravo went the whole nine yards and bought the ‘exclusive’ cable rights. The timing is good because the DVDs go on sale in December, and because CBS used it as a summer show on a Friday night, I think it will be brand new content for a lot of viewers. Very smart move, Bravo. If I were you I’d promote the heck out of it almost as if it was a brand new show. I also hope you give serious consideration to ordering at least a new season. Everyone seems eager to do it if a network or a cable company is willing to back it financially, and it has a very strong and loyal fan base. Bravo, my new favorite TV station. I liked it before. I love it now.
I think this is a good sign. There are very few in not at all shows that can tell the story of the greatest decade of all, the 70’s like this show does. It is nostalgic and and simply fun to watch. I hope someone gets smart and picks it up for another season.

Swingtown made summer tv awesome again! top quality show that people cared about. great stories, characters, acting, and they finally got the 70’s right. Bravo to bravo for not being the timid “moralists” that make me puke. Thanks Bravo! Now pick up next season too!!
