With the economy in a state of flux, many consumers are forced to sacrifice various forms of technology and entertainment. Advertising Age predicts the first to go will be cable service beyond basic cable, along with telephone landlines and expensive mobile packages. Also to be hurt during the financial crisis are Blu-ray DVD player and Slingbox sales. “My sense is that you’re going to see people paying a lot for one thing,” said Rishad Tobaccowala, CEO of Denuo and chief innovation officer of Publicis Groupe Media. “The lifeline to the world is a fast Internet connection and as much as I can get free from that Internet connection.”
