Cablevision executives met with Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin to voice the company’s support for the regulator’s rules allowing cable operators to withhold programming from competitors when the content isn’t distributed via satellite, which Verizon calls a loophole and has opposed, Multichannel News reports. Verizon, whose FiOS competes with Cablevision in the New York area, has taken issue with Cablevision withholding the high-definition feed of its MSG regional sports network, Multichannel News says.
