Cartoon Network is in pre-production on a live-action, CGI movie based on bestselling young adult novel “Tiger’s Apprentice” by Lawrence Yep, Multichannel News reports. The film is casting now and set to premiere in 2010. Oscar-nominated screenwriter David Magee adapted the book, about an orphaned teen put in the care of a magical tiger that can take human form. Jane Startz, whose credits include “Tuck Everlasting,” will executive produce the project, Multichannel notes.
