Comcast Seeking Co-Production Deals

Comcast wants in on a co-production deal not unlike the partnership between DirecTV and NBC for its series “Friday Night Lights,” Broadcasting & Cable reports. The cable company was actually in the race to land “Lights” but eventually lost out to the satellite provider. The deal between DirecTV and NBC split production costs for the series between the two. In exchange DirecTV got to televise the series, commercial free, four months before its broadcast airing. Comcast plans to be more aggressive when future opportunities present themselves. “The notion of windows that are advantageous for our customers is something we will remain interested in,” Comcast COO Steve Burke told B&C.
