Grier Stirs Up ‘Chocolate News’

David Alan Grier’s new comedy series “Chocolate News,” debuting Wednesday night on Comedy Central, enters the entertainment landscape as one the few black-oriented satire shows during an historic election year, the New York Times reports. The show’s news format borrows from other politically themed shows like “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report,” but Grier uses the magazine structure to tie together different traditional sketches. “I wanted something where I could have the clearest and most unfiltered artistic and creative voice,” Grier tells the newspaper.
