Lifetime Ponders Future Without ‘Runway’

Should Lifetime not get to air its newest prized possession, “Project Runway,” due to current litigation between show producer The Weinstein Company and Bravo parent company NBC Universal over the rights to the hit show, the female-skewing network isn’t worried about any schedule gaps the show’s departure would leave, MediaWeek reports. “Regardless of the legal outcome, we’re well-positioned for growth,” a Lifetime network representative told MediaWeek. Whether it airs on Bravo or Lifetime, some say a long court battle would harm the show due to its timeliness. “If it’s not on the air by September of next year, then they start having some interesting conversations with their clients,” a media buyer told MediaWeek.
