Local Cable Ad Execs Reinvent the Wheel

The slumping economy has dramatically taken away home furnishing and automotive advertising revenue from local cable companies, so what’s an advertising executive to do? According to Multichannel News, they have to think outside the cable box by looking for companies that don’t traditionally advertise on TV, and the results have been positive. Multichannel cites aerospace and defense company Alliant Techsystems’ recent purchase of spots on networks such as Versus and the Outdoor Channel to hawk its hunting ammunition – a move that reportedly caused sales to skyrocket.
