McCain Urges YouTube to Review Takedown Policy

Presidential candidate Sen. John McCain has issued a letter to YouTube asking the Web site to take a second look at its takedown policy, MediaPost reports. During the course of their campaigns, Sens. McCain and Barack Obama have seen their videos removed as a response to takedown notices from news organizations and media companies. In McCain’s case, clips showing footage of CBS News’ Katie Couric and Fox News Channel’s Major Garrett were removed. In a letter to YouTube CEO Chad Hurley, the McCain campaign’s general counsel Trevor Potter wrote, “We believe it would consume few resources—and provide enormous benefit—for YouTube to commit a full legal review of all takedown notices.”
