Comcast May Get Competition in Philly

RCN might be looking to take a run at Comcast’s home town, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The company says serving towns on the outskirts of the city already make Philadelphia one of its fastest growing markets. RCN was denied a franchise in Philadelphia 10 year ago, and would still need one to provide services. Meanwhile Verizon said it had negotiated a deal with the city to offer its FiOS service in the City of Brotherly Love, increasing the pressure on the nation’s No. 1 cable operator, according to the Inquirer.
