Children’s Programming Gets a Digital Boost

The proliferation of digital broadcast channels is increasing demand for children’s educational programming, TVNewsday reports. As stations approach the Feb. 17 deadline for digital conversion, many are adding digital channels and in the process are increasing their FCC-mandated obligation to air educational or instructional programming, according to TVNewsday. Producers and distributors of syndicated educational programming, the report says, are citing greater demand for their programs from networks seeking carriage of digital channels and from broadcasters that are rolling out their own channels.
