Four top science and environmental journalism groups issued an unprecedented joint statement criticizing CNN for shutting down its science reporting team, the Columbia Journalism Review says. The statement calls the cuts a “shortsighted” move made “at a time when science coverage could not be more important in our national and international discourse,” the CJR says.
