If Oscar De La Hoya retires, the pay-per-view boxing business will lose its biggest attraction ever, the New York Times reports. De La Hoya’s PPV bouts totaled $696.4 million in gross revenues. “Even when dominant figures retire, the sports don’t disappear,” Richard Schaefer, chief executive of De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Productions tells the paper, adding, “Who will carry the day in pay-per-view now? I don’t know.”
