Ex-FCC Chair Predicts Smooth Shift to DTV

Dec 3, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Former Federal Communications Commission Chairman Richard Wiley sees a relatively smooth transition ahead, both on the digital front and in the political arena, as a new Democratic-controlled FCC takes over just as the DTV conversion goes into effect nationwide, Broadcasting & Cable reports. Now a Washington communications attorney, Republican Wiley was FCC chairman during the Nixon administration. Covering a wide range of media issues, he predicted increased media regulation under the Obama administration, but said regulatory efforts are likely to be tempered by demands that the new administration focus on the nation’s overwhelming economic problems, the magazine reported.
