GSN has ordered 40 half-hour episodes of “The Newlywed Game,” reviving the program with a modern take, the Hollywood Reporter says. The program will air weekdays, likely in the spring. Executive producer Michael Davies said he’ll also be looking for “goldyweds,” or couples who appeared on the original program, to compete against newlyweds.

  1. TV gameshow maven Steve Beverly once wrote in his webzine that he believed Michael Davies didn’t sleep…he was too busy producing game shows. I agree. He still is. Considering he and Al Burton convinced the poker-faced Ben Stein to give away his money on Comedy Central, imported his own British hit “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” to American screens, revived Bob Stewart’s “Chain Reaction,” and gave us “Grand Slam,” essentially a round-robin tournament of previous game show champions, I don’t think he’ll ever stop. When judgement day comes, he’ll probably be talking with St. Peter and God himself about having them in Heaven.
