Hill May Consider DTV Nightlight Bill

Dec 10, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Capitol Hill may consider a DTV “nightlight” bill as early as Wednesday, Broadcasting & Cable reports, citing unnamed sources on the Hill. The Short-Term Analog Flash and Emergency Readiness (SAFER) Act would allow broadcasters to continue delivering analog signals in order to further educate people about the DTV switch beyond February’s cutoff date, the trade says. Although the SAFER Act may be heard after Congress discusses an auto bailout bill, they will not vote on the matter yet, the source says, according to B&C.
