As many as five syndicated shows may be canceled within the next month, as the economic downturn has cut advertising spending for such shows, Broadcasting & Cable reports, citing an interview with Debmar-Mercury Co-President Mort Marcus. Many station owners may renew syndicated shows for time periods shorter than the standard five-year term because they want to commit less to licensing fees, B&C says, citing Marcus.
