HBO’s “Big Love” returns on Sunday to deal with the repercussions of the family’s outing of their polygamous lifestyle, the New York Times says. Meanwhile, the family is also pursuing a fourth wife, an Eastern European waitress whose reluctance to join appears to be waning. The show can be seen as a narrative about “ambivalent assimilation,” as the patriarch wants to hold onto a lifestyle abhorred by most Americans while freely moving about the middle-class circles of mainstream Mormon, the paper says.
