Cox to Test Bandwidth-Management System

Jan 28, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Cox Communications announced Tuesday it will begin exploring a bandwidth-throttling system that will delay non-sensitive programs, including P2P sharing services, Multichannel News reports. Some consumer watchdog groups have already expressed their concern over the model, which will “discriminate based on application,” the trade says. Cox says that during peak usage hours, Web pages, voice calls, videos and gaming will have bandwidth priority over applications, Multichannel says.
