‘System Disruption’ Blamed for Nielsen Delays

Jan 8, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Nielsen Media Research is attributing its major data reporting delays from earlier in the week to a “significant system disruption,” MediaPost reports. In a letter to clients, Nielsen VP of global business services Mitchell Habib described the problem as having occurred during a mainframe computer relocation switch to a Texas facility from an older Florida location, the site says. The problem affected data reporting across broadcast and cable, even though the company paid a $1 million premium to its “industry-leading technology partner” to “ensure a high-quality and timely transition,” according to MediaPost.
