Nick Counter, president of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, will retire when his five-year contract expires next month, Daily Variety reports. Carol Lombardini, second in command to Counter, will serve as acting president of AMPTP, which is in a stalemate with the Screen Actors Guild over a primetime contract. Counter, who has headed AMPTP since 1982, will stay on as a consultant, the newspaper says.
