A bill introduced by Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., that would force No.2 U.S. satellite company Dish Network to carry noncommercial stations’ multicast channels was praised by the Association of Public Television Stations, Broadcasting & Cable reports. Rep. Eshoo said the bill would prevent households from being denied access to public digital programming, B&C reports. U.S. satellite leader DirecTV has a carriage agreement with APTS, B&C says.
