Hulu Adds Social Networking

Mar 12, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Web video venture Hulu is adding social networking functions to its site in order to make it more attractive to advertisers, the Wall Street Journal reports. The move also would make Hulu, owned by NBC Universal and News Corp., more of a computer-based service, placating cable operators unhappy about seeing network content available to non-subscribers.

  1. …and…I just heard they are adding a Twitter function, text messaging and their servers are all solar powered. Give me a break. Adding a social component just confuses the brand function and wastes everyone’s time. But we see it all the time – to be fundable and hip, new media is turning everything into a social network. Doesn’t strike me as a good idea…but then at the time neither did cell phones, so what do i know?
