SAG, AFTRA Commercials Strike Possible

Leaders of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists are mulling sending out strike-authorization ballots if negotiations on a new commercials contract don’t improve soon, the Hollywood Reporter says. The ad industry is requesting rollbacks such as the elimination of the traditional pay structure on national broadcast ads and extending the working day to 10 hours from eight, the trade paper says. The unions have drafted a letter to member seeking authorization, which calls the issues “critically important,” Daily Variety reports.
