Can NBCU Rework Oxygen’s Image?

A year after NBC Universal’s $925 million purchase of Oxygen Media, the media company is seeking to redefine the cable network’s identity with more on-air drinking, girl-fights and bad language, Broadcasting & Cable reports. It’s part of the effort from NBCU Women and LifestyleEntertainment Networks President Lauren Zalaznick to boost the show’s growth, although the effort comes as Oxygen will face fierce competition from Oprah Winfrey’s OWN, the trade paper says.
