John Kerry, D-Mass., said the reauthorization of the satellite distant signal compulsory license and issues such as FCC reforms would be priorities for the Senate Communications, Technology & Internet subcommittee, Broadcasting & Cable reports. The full committee, headed by Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., would focus on broadband education issues, Kerry said at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s Washington convention, the trade publication says. Kerry also said in a speech that the cable industry needs to look beyond Washington’s battles to focus on scientific research, the publication says.
