The Aug. 3rd return of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" on TLC didn’t draw the blockbuster numbers it did on the June 22 show, when the couple announced its separation, but it was far from a bust, the Associated Press reports.
That June 22 show drew 10.6 million viewers; the Aug 3rd shows (two back-to-back half hours) drew 4 million viewers and 4.2 million views respectively. It’s the highest rated show on TLC.
Mark Perigard, a columnist with the Boston Herald says that even though TLC won’t let their cash cow reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8" go, the split between the parents might be the best thing that’s happened to the Gosselin kids.
